Colon Free Zone
The Colon Free Trade Zone is the largest free zone in the Americas and the second largest in the world. Created in 1948, the free zone houses more than 2000 wholesalers and receives over 250,000 visitors yearly. Imports into the Colon Free Zone come from China, Japan, and USA. Please note the Colon Free Zone is currently experiencing a sharp decrease in sales due to export problems with Colombia.
Panama Pacifico
Panama Pacifico Special Economic Area (PPSEA) is the second free zone in Panama. It has 110 hectares of commercial space, 27 of which is a dedicated to an international business park. There is also the Pan-American Corporate Center which houses 120 businesses. (several of which are Fortune 500 companies). The PPSEA houses more than 4,500 employees and it is near downtown Panama City, the ports of Balboa as well as the rail network.
